Description of Issue:

Error 68 - (0xC0068068) – The Employee is currently locked on another terminal

2017-10-24 08:40:46.4594|2017-10-24 12:40:46.4594|WARN|Error trying to login to Aloha System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0xC0068068): Exception from HRESULT: 0xC0068068

Technical Explanation:

This error indicates that the interface employee that Olo uses to place orders is currently locked on another terminal and can not be used to place this order.

This can be caused by a FOH staff member accessing an Olo check at the same time a new order was placed by a guest, or a FOH staff member logging in to the FOH terminal using the Olo employee ID.

Solution:

  1. We suggest using Aloha's Audit Report to investigate whether or not this is caused by a FOH employee using the Olo employee ID on a FOH terminal. If so, you have the option to assign a FOH password to the Olo employee.
    • This will need to be assigned on a FOH terminal just like any other employee password assignment.
    • The password will need to be communicated to the POS Specialist at Olo so the necessary settings can be configured above store.
  2. If you've determined that this is not being caused by a FOH employee accessing or using the Olo employee ID on a FOH terminal, the following steps may alleviate the immediate situation.
    • Navigate to the Bootdrv\Aloha(QS)\Data folder and locate the OLO interface user.LCK file(i.e.
00****.lck) and delete file. (**** is referring to the Olo employee ID)
    • Restart the Ctlsvr service
    • Restart the OloAlohaService
  3. We have observed that implementing the Validation Employee can produce relief and is a recommended step. The POS Specialist you are working with can assist with this.

Caveat:

OloAlohaService Agent 4.0.0.452 was implemented to prevent Olo from restarting Iber(qs) in response to the 68 error, which caused the store to be offline for a series of minutes. Instructions for upgrading via the Dashboard are located here.

If implementing a password, please note that the password solution is applicable on a store by store basis.  You should have the same password for each location from Olo's perspective (to scale), but the password will have to be implemented on a FOH terminal per location.
