Restricting a Category to Specific Stores

For a variety of reasons, a brand may want to restrict a category to specific stores, to control whether or not the category will be visible to certain stores within Store Menu Admin. A common use of this restricting feature is when a brand creates a test category, and wants to restrict the test category to only be seen by the demo or lab vendor, to prevent live stores from accidentally adding on the test category to their online menus. By restricting a category, a brand can essentially control whether or not that category appears within a stores' menu in Dashboard.

Steps to restricting a category:

  1. Go into the Company Menu via Menu Admin.

  2. Click on the appropriate category you would like to restrict (category should expand when clicked).

  3. Click on the "Check" icon located right next to the Edit Category option.


  4. On the new screen that pops up, click on the "Restrict stores" option for the full list of restaurants to open up.


  5. Under "Select the restaurants that are allowed to have "(category name)" on their menus", click on "Expand all" to reveal a full list of the stores.

  6. Uncheck all of the stores you would not want the category to be available to (only stores that are checked off will be able to see the category).

    • 2018-05-11_12-20-47.jpg - Store will be able to see the category, and add it on to their menu.

    • 2018-05-11_12-21-17.jpg - Store will not be able to see the category.

  7. Once the appropriate store selections have been made, hit "Save" at the bottom of the screen.

  8. On the "Category Restrictions Saved Successfully" screen, click "Ok".
