Overview
DoorDash self-service integration in the Olo Dashboard Rails Integration screen, makes it easy for brands to connect their stores with DoorDash. The self-service tool allows brands to manage their DoorDash Marketplace integration directly from the Olo Dashboard. Brands first log in with their DoorDash account, using DoorDash's secure login (oAuth), then select the Olo and DoorDash stores they want to map. Finally, brands have the option to review the menu and activate the mapping. This seamless process helps brands easily manage their DoorDash presence directly from the Olo Dashboard.
Requirements
- The Olo Dashboard user must have Rail Integration permission in User Management.
- A Brand Admin can assign users access using the Rails Integration permission in User Management
- The Brand must have a DoorDash Merchant Portal account setup with their Brand’s stores configured to integrate.
- The user must be a DoorDash Business Admin, Group Business Admin, or Store Manager to gain access to DoorDash stores through DoorDash's secure login.
- The Olo store must have billing set up by Olo.
- Also required for Rails Management setup.
- Highly Recommended: Brand should have a test store setup in DoorDash to validate setup and integrate with a Olo Demo store.
Integration Steps
Tutorial
Retrieve Stores, DoorDash Sign In & Sign Out
In the Rails Integration screen you can select the Olo store/s that you want to map to DoorDash stores.
You will need to sign in to DoorDash with your account to start mapping stores.
After you are signed in, you will be able to sign out from the screen if needed.
Confirm Mapping
With a suggested match provided, the user can the confirm the mapping and start the integration or edit the mapping if incorrect.
Initialize Mapping
When a suggested store mapping cannot be found a Initialize action is provided.
Click Initialize on the Olo store to retrieve a list of available DoorDash stores to map to it.
Activate Integration or Preview Menu
After initializing the integration, the status will show Integration Initialized, Menu Requested, and Menu Qualified for a successful store mapping and menu import into DoorDash.
Once the status reaches Menu Qualified, you can Activate Integration, View Menu in DoorDash, or Update Menu in DoorDash if any changes are made in Olo.
Note: A menu update file can take up to an hour to produce for DoorDash. If your most recent updates are not reflected in the preview and clicking "Update Menu" allow some more time before trying again.
Activate Integration
After clicking Activate Integration the store mapping will be completed in DoorDash and an Integration Activated status will show.
Once the integration is activated, orders made on DoorDash for the store will be placed through Olo if the store was already live.
For stores that were not live on DoorDash, users will need to activate their store to start receiving orders in DoorDash Merchant Portal - Activations tracker page.
Restart Integration
If an Olo store needs to change to a different (or new) DoorDash store or if the Status is Abandoned due to a duplicate location id error caused by the DoorDash store requested being used on another integration, the integration process can be restarted using the Restart Integration Action.
Previous Integrated and Active Stores
If the DoorDash Store selected is already Integrated and Active (on sale) through DoorDash Marketplace and Olo, a warning will display. The previous integration will be broken and transitioned to the selected Olo store.
This message will not display when transitioning a integration to Olo from another provider.
Troubleshooting Blockers and Errors
Setup Rails Billing
Like the Rails Management screen, Rails billing will need to be setup for the Olo store. If this is not setup Contact Olo action will display with the following message.
Setup Menu Access
Menu Access needs to be setup for the Olo store in the Rails Management screen before the DoorDash integration can start.
Menu Not Ready
Once menu access is permitted the Menu Export will be generated for DoorDash and can take around 30 minutes.
DoorDash Status Errors
When a status of Abandoned or Menu Block is received an error details is available by hovering the mouse over the status. The DoorDash implementation team will be in contact as well to help resolve these errors.
FAQ
-
I do not see the Rails Integration screen in Olo Dashboard, how do I get it?
- All Brand Admins will have access to the Rails Integration screen and can provide additional users access via User Management with the "Rails Integration" permission.
- Users will also need to be a Business Admin in the DoorDash Merchant Portal in order to login via SSO to DoorDash and complete integrations.
-
Can I use this screen for DoorDash Marketplace as well as Drive (Olo Dispatch)?
- The Rails Integration screen for DoorDash is specific to the Marketplace product and does not apply to DoorDash Drive (Olo Dispatch).
-
I received a status of Menu Block, what are the next steps?
- In most cases this error means that a menu for the store is not properly setup in Olo with Categories or Products or core components such as Store Hours are missing. Generally this can be resolved by correcting the menu and restarting the integration.
- DoorDash implementation team will be aware of the errors and will reach out regarding the issues within 1 business day.
- Menu Block status will ultimately need to be resolved by the brand by correcting the issues in their menu setup. If assistance is needed brands can contact their Rails Specialist, Project Manager or CSM.
-
I received a status of Abandoned, what are the next steps?
- Generally this means the DoorDash store selected is already mapped or another internal DoorDash error has occurred which will need the DoorDash implementation team's help to resolve.
- DoorDash implementation team will be aware of the errors and will reach out to help resolve the issues within 1 business day.
-
Can I restart an integration with status of Abandoned?
- If the Abandoned status was caused by error in mapping to an incorrect DoorDash store (duplicate location), yes you can. Otherwise you will need to contact your DoorDash implementation representative to resolve the Abandoned error.
-
Can I re-map a store if it’s incorrectly mapped at the "Menu Qualified" stage?
- No, once a location is at the "Menu Qualified" stage, re-mapping the store through that step is not possible. The recommended solution is to complete the onboarding process, which will allow the you to restart onboarding and map the correct store.
-
I stepped away from integrating a Store and was logged out from DoorDash SSO, do I need to start all over?
- Yes, when you or another team member with DoorDash Merchant Portal and Integration screen access log back in, you can pickup the integration again.
-
How long will I be logged in to DoorDash for and can I log out?
- Currently DoorDash keeps a user logged in for 1 hour. After that period of time the user will need to log in using their Merchant Portal credentials again. Before that period the user can use the "Log Me Out" button to log out from DoorDash.
-
Can I integrate a DoorDash store already active (on sale) on another provider (not Olo)?
- YES! You can move your store integration from the another provider to Olo through the screen. If the store is already active (on sale) on another provider, once you integrate the store through Olo orders will start to be directed to Olo.
- No messaging will display in Olo Dashboard related to other providers when transitioning to Olo. As of yet, DoorDash does not provide this information to Olo about other providers and you will need to know which stores are already mapped when transitioning to Olo.
-
Does image verification by DoorDash occur during the menu qualification step of integration?
-
No, image verification does not take place during the menu qualification step. The verification is handled by the DoorDash photos team after the menu is qualified, with an average turnaround time of about 5 business days.
-
-
When does the image verification process start?
-
It begins when a new image is identified by DoorDash within the menu after successful ingestion or update. If an image is not new, it is reflected immediately; if it is new, it undergoes the verification process.
-
-
Does DoorDash offer an option to bypass the image verification delay?
-
Yes, brands can work with DoorDash to opt into auto image approval, which eliminates delays, if they meet the criteria: a photo approval rate of at least 95% and item photo coverage of at least 60%. Brands can request this option via a support ticket through DoorDash.
