Google Tag Manager Conversion Funnel

Below are a few examples of custom events that can be fired to match support for Google Tag Manager (GTM) eCommerce conversion.

Push Order Data to Data Layer:

  • Trigger Type: Page View - Dom Ready
  • Trigger Fires on:
    • Url: contains thankyou
    • Url: contains thankyouguest
    • Url: contains thank-you

 

Add Product to Cart:

  • Trigger Type: Custom Event
  • Event Name: gtm.click
  • Trigger Fires on:
    • Url path: starts with/menu/
    • Element id: equals | AddProductToBasket(Desktop)
    • Element classes: matches css selector | add-product-btn(MWv2)

Remove Product:

This currently only has a sensible target to match on mobile web v2

  • Trigger Type: Custom Event
  • Event Name: gtm.click
  • Trigger Fires on:
    • Url: matches RegEx | .*
    • Element classes: matches css selector | basket-product__action--remove(MWv2)

Proceed to Checkout:

On mobile web this can be clicked from multiple pages. Depending on if they segment their tags by platform they could match by pages that start with menu for Desktop.

Trigger Type: Custom Event

Event Name: gtm.click

Trigger Fires on:

  • Url: matches RegEx | .*
  • Element text: equals | Proceed to Checkout
